Endgame set only cost us $50 because it
was made mostly from garbage cans.
"For this play," Moran continued,
"we borroweu plants from local plant
shops, a good looking stereo set and
paintings from Ron Walford, Detroit
Greek Town Art studio artist.
"With each show we do," Moran said,
"we learn about another facet of life.
For instance, when we did a hospital
show last year, we met some people at
the local hospital who helped us with
props. We develop relations with
businesses to get the props we need."
Performance Network was started in
1982 by Moran, University of Michigan
post-graduate, and Medieval Arts
Festival founder Dave Bernstein, along
with three others. Moran and Bernstein

are also two of the original founders of
Detroit's Attic Theatre. Currently,
there are about a dozen permanent Per-
formance Network members.
"We're a professional production
company, not a community theater
although we let community groups use
the building. For instance, a woman
who teaches a clogging dance class is
renting the space from us," Moran
said.
"We started Performance Network
as a more experimental theater than
the Attic which runs 52 weeks per year.
We started as a theater studio, three of
the founders being involved in film
video, but the city of Ann Artbor
couldn't fit us into any of its codes. "
Performance Network will also
present Cabaret this summer.

Seven Contemporary Dances
Performed at University Dance Building,
Studio A May 20 and 21, 8 p.m.
S PRING IS a time of new beginnings
and in style with the season the
Michigan council for the Arts presents
Seven Contemporary Dances, a
melange of modern dances by seven
choreographers-some independent,
all professionals, and even some
faculty members.
The performance is the culminating
event of a Michign Council for the Arts'
Creative Artist's '.irant which was
awarded to Lynn Slaughter, a member
of Dance Theater 2. Slaughter was
awarded the grant in order to develop
an evening of works created by
professional Michigan choreographers.
Assisted by Alan Lommasson, also of
Dance Theater 2, Slaughter has
recruited Gay Delanghe, Willie Feuer,
and Susan Matheke of the University's
faculty; Barbara Djules Boothe, an in-
dependent choreographer from Yp-
silanti; and Christine Loiseaux of the
Grand Valley State faculty to create
works for Friday and Saturday nights'
shows.
"The people we have brought
together work independently and we're
hoping that it will make for a very
diverse program as far as styles are
concerned," said Lommasson. "These
people are all professionals and it will
be a very professional program."
Local, University, and out-of-town
dancers will perform solos, duets, and
group pieces-all original

choreography done by these aspiring
artists of modern dance.
Not only are the dances original
works of the choreographers, but mcuh
of the musical accompaniment has
been created especially for Friday and
Saturday's shows.
Gregory Ballrad composed several
pieces for Willie Feuer and Susan
Matheke's choreography while Gay
Delanhge will have live musical ac-
companiment with pianist Robert
Pazur. Lammasson's piece will be dan-
ced to an electronic score, and Barb
Boothe has choreographed an in-
novative piece set to the music of
Pierre Henry.
Seven Contemporary Dances will be
the farewell to Ann Arbor performan-
ce for Matheke and Feuer, who have
been at the University for four years.
So, if dance is on your list of entertain-
ment, come see the vibrant modern
dance works of these seven pros-it's
an evening of guaranteed dancing
delights
