RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina State Unviersity
basketball player Lorenzo Charles has been charged with
stealing two pizzas from a pizza delivery man, officials said
yesterday.
Charles, 18, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was charged with larceny
from a person, a felony, said Capt. J. J. Mcginnis of the N.C.
State public safety department.
THE INCIDENT occurred May 30, but Charles was not
charged until July 24, after the pizza delivery man identified
the Wolfpack player as the suspect. His trial is scheduled for
Monday in Wake District Court.
McGinnis said Charles is accused of stealing the pizzas as
they were being delivered to an N.C. State dormitory.
.He said the pizzas were forcibly jerked out of the delivery
man's hands, although no weapon was involved in the theft
and the delivery man was not injured.
The two pizzas and an asbestos bag were valued at $50,

McGinnis said.
Charles, who could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison
if convicted, played in 24 of the Wolfpack's 32 games last
season.
Gridders charged with burglary_
CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) - Three members of the
Southern Illinois University-Carbondale football team have
been charged with burglary and theft, police said Friday.
Police identified the three as John Wilson, 19, of Chicago;
Eddie Norman, 20, of Memphis, Tenn., and Andre Cosey, 19,
of Youngstown, Ohio. All three were charged in connection
with the July 29 theft of stereo equipment valued at $3,000
from a campus dormitory, police said.
Wilson was arrested Wednesday and held in Jackson Coun-
ty jail and freed after posting $6,000 bond. Police still are
searching for Norman and Cosey.
