The largest peace demonstration in
w .,v. the history of the world-estimates
range from 500,000 to 1 million. On
June 12 nuclear disarmament ad-
vocates from around the world mar-
ched through New York streets
from the United Nations to Central
Park's Great Lawn. The gathered
marchers heard such notables as Or-
son Welles, Bella Abzug, Coretta
Scott King, Jackson Browne, Bruce
Sprintsteen, and Joan Baez. The
rally was part of a week-long protest
that began with a -concert in
California and ended with civil
disobedience at the United Nations
Building on June 14.
