World's Fair 1982
The 1982 World's Fair, held in Knoxville, Tennessee,
runs from May 1 until September. The fenced-in
region, surrounded by the University of Tennessee,
continues to draw daily crowds of over 100,000.
While the theme is energy, several of the 26 national
and corporate exhibits concentrate on cultural ideas.
After waiting in the two-hour China exhibit line, you
can see beautiful displays of ivory, antique furniture,
cloisonne, and a rock from the Great Wall. The Peru
exhibit is filled with gold. The other end of the fair-
grounds features rides and games. Throughout the
fair you find all types of delicious international food
and the omnipresent symbol of the World's Fair, the
sunsphere.
