Pbe2--Saturday. June s: 1982-The Michaeon Odly 2,000 ask ouster of MSU fraternity EAST LANSING (UPI) - Black students and faculty members at Michigan State University yesterday presented MSU President Cecil. Mackey with petitions bearing about; 2,000 signatures calling for the ouster, of an all-white fraternity which ap- peared in an allegedly racist photograph. Protestors shouted "lead or leave" during the demonstration which drew about 300, but Mackey said the issue remains under study. THE DAILY CLASSIFIEDS ARE A GREAT WAY TO GET FAST RESULTS CALL 764-0557 BLACKS ON and off campus are angry over an advertisement in a student newspaper picturing members of the Theta Chi fraternity with a wide- eyed, black doll called "Willie.' William Gamble, a professor of engineering and member of the Black Faculty Association, said the incident is an example of "symbolic sickness and racism that pervades MSU." "Look what 'Willie' did for us," student Charles Dulin said, however, "HE BROUGHT us together. The thing we're going to have to do in the future is stay together," he said. Mackey told the gathering he in no way condoned the picture, but did not know yet whether Theta Chi will lose its university charter over the episode. "'The publication of this picture was at odds with every commitment of the university," he said. He also promised to meet with black leaders soon to discuss their concerns. a'eruirE0 Today The weather The forecast for today is looking better and better.
