Jacobson singled twice in four trips to the plate while Erdmann singled and cracked a double to bring in Jacobson in the fourth. The Wolverine pitching staff also performed well in the second game. Mid- daugh is referring to Michigan's series split with Ohio State which left the Wolverines firmly in second place in the Big Ten East. The Wolverine offense couldn't get on track in the first game as the Buckeyes downed Michigan, 6-4. The Blue nine came back in the second game, however, to come away with a 4-2 vic- tory. ON SUNDAY, the Wolverines and Buckeyes traded victories as Michigan took the first game, 3-2, and Ohio State snatched the second game with a 124 laugher. The Wolverine pitching staff seemed to collapse as starter Bill Shuta gave up eight hits and five walks in the second game. The semester break was not a total waste for the Michigan batsmen, however, as they added a total of eight victories to the win column since April 20th. Michigan swept a series with Toledo on April 20th, shelling the Rockets, 7-1 and 15-6. The Wolverines went on from there to take three games from Cleveland State, 4-1, 4-2, and 15-1. Ferris State, however, posed problems for Michigan as the Blue nine split a twinbill with the Bulldogs. The Wolverines struggled to win the first game, 3-2, in eight innings. Ferris State came back in the second game, however, to wallop Michigan, 12-4. Yesterday's victory over Adrian and the wins and losses gathered over the semester break bring Michigan's overall record to 31-7 and 5-3 in the Big Ten. Cager By BOB WOJNOWSKI Michigan forward Willis "Stretch" Carter, a 6-8 freshman from Detroit Murray-Wright, has transferred to the University of Detroit. At Detroit, Carter will rejoin Don Sicko, formerly a Wolverine basketball assistant and now the head coach of the Titans. With Michigan's incoming crop of freshmen consisting of five frontline players - Paul Jokisch, Roy Tarpley, Robert Henderson, Butch Wade and Richard Rellford - Carter's already limited playing time was not ex- pected to increase next season. Carter, who led Murray-Wright to the Class A finals two years ago while averaging 20 points and 18 rebounds per game, appeared in all 27 games for the Wolverines last season, averaging 3.3 points leaves and two rebounds a game. "IT WAS a mutual thing bet- ween him (Carter), Sicko and myself," said Michigan head coach Bill Frieder. "Considering everything, we thought it would he in his hest interests" 6 0 Narter ... heading for Detroit
