White Sox 4, Red Sox 2
BOSTON(AP)-Greg Luzinski broke
a tie with his third extra base hit of the
gamein the seventh inning last night as
the Chicago White Sox defeated the
Boston Red Sox 4-2 behind the five-hit
pitching of Ross Baumgarten, Steve
Trout and Ed Farmer.
Bill Almon also had three hits, in-
cluding his second home run of the
season, off Tom Burgmeier in the ninth
as the White Sox made it two in a row
over Boston.
A CROWD OF 17,889 turned out for
the second game of the second half of
the 1981 American League season. The
two teams were greeted by 20,227 as the
strike-interupted campaign resumed
Monday night.
Luzinski, acquired from the
Philadelphia Phillies last March, set up
a run in the first with a double. In the
third, the designated hitter hustled a
drive off the wall in left-center into a
triple and scored on a double to left by
Chet Lemon.
Pirates 6, Expos 3
MONTREAL(AP)-Mike Easer
snapped a 2-2 tie with a single and John
Milner smashed a three-run homer to
cap a five-run rally in the ninth inning
that carried the Pittsburgh Pirates to a
6-3 victory over the Montral Expos last
night.

and Dave Parker cracked consecutive
doubles off reliever Woodie Fryman, 3-
2.
ELIAS SOSA relieved and gave up
singles to Bill Madlock and Easier, with
Parker scoring on Easler's hit for a 3-2
lead. Then Milner blasted his second
honier of the season.
Kent Tekulve, 3-3, surrendered the
final Expos run in the ninth inning after
Tim Wallach led off with a double and
scored on two infield outs.
Bill Gullickson had pitched a one-
hitter throgh seven innings for the Ex-
pos, retiring 20 of the 21 Pirates he
faced.
Gullickson threw 67 pitches before he
was relieved in the eighth by Fryman.

single to Phil Garner before Alexander
scored on a passed ball by catcher Gary

Mets 4, Cubs 2
CHICAGO(AP)-Hubie Brooks drove
in a.pair of runs, including one of two in
the eighth inning, that rallied the New
York Mets to a 42 victory over the
Chicago Cubs yesterday.
It was the second straight triumph for
the Mets in the second half of baseball's
split season and came before a crowd of
10,250 compared to the turnout of 7,551
for Monday's second-season opener.
DAVE KINGMAN, who had singled
in New York's first run in the fifth,
opened the eighth with a walk, went to
third on a single by Ellis Valentine and
scored the tying run on a sacrifice fly
by Brooks. Valentine went to second on
Brooks' fly and advanced to third on
John Stearns' infield out. He scored
when Doug Flynn singled off reliever
Dick Tidrow.
The Meta added an insurance run in
the ninth when Valentine walked and
scored from first on a line double to left-
center by Brooks.

NEW YORK(AP)-Four Texas pit-
chers-Rick Honeycutt, Jim Kern,
John Henry Johnson and Dave Sch-
midt-combined for a four-hitter last
night, hurling the Texas Rangers to a1-
0 victory over the New YorkYankees.
Consecutive first-inning singles by
Bump Wills, Al Oliver and Buddy Bell
produced the game's only run.
THE VICTORY before a crowd of
30,117, evened the Rangers' 'second
season" record at 1-1, the same as the
Yankees'.
