Officials review nuclear holocaust threat (Continued from Page 3)' and Dexter-Ann Arbor roads to shelter spaces in nearby outlying host areas. "RIGHT NOW Ann Arbor evacuates 104,000 people in 45 minutes every foot- ball Saturday," Zale pointed out. So relocating the city's population" (107,316) should be little trouble, he said. Zale commented that many areas in the state wouldn't even be affected by fallout. Radioactive fallout occurs in the fourth step of a nuclear blast when the gamma ray emitting grain-size par- ticles fall from the mushroom cloud. The first step is a bright flash of light-so intense it can blind an onlooker. The second step is a searing wave of heat, and following that is the blast wave carrying flying debris. IF AN AVERAGE 5 megaton bomb is dropped, everything within a three- mile radius is totally destroyed. But outside an eight mile radius there is only "light damage," said VanDel. The radioactive fallout weakens rapidly. Seven hours after the blast, the radiation level is 90 percent less, and two weeks later the radiation has drop- ped to a .1 percent level of the original. PEOPLE UNABLE to get to a fallout shelter who need to improvise their own shelters should have at least 16 inches of brick, one foot of concrete, or two feet of packed earth for the shelters walls, according to a movie shown at the conference. A table in a basement corner piled with thicknesses of doors and books and surrounded by chests of drawers filled with earth may afford some protection from fallout. Psalm 2:1 and Acts 4:25 Recently we advised a friend who wrote us to "HAVE A DIALOGUE WITH GOD ALMIGHTY!" (if dialogue is a strange word to some of our readers it means) "two talking together." Any one can do that. Why, we read a number of times in God's Book, The Bible, where even the Devil talked with God. Hope and trust you are not a member of the devil's family: If so, IF SO, have a dialogue with the Almighty about cutting your bonds and setting you free. If you love "the world, the flesh, and the devil" so much you do not want to be set free, then consider "your latter end and the eternal curse" and ask God to change your appetites and desires and put "The True Fear of The Lord" in your heart to the place where you will "delay not, but make haste to 'Flee The Wrath' to come!" FAITH is essential and necessary to have a dialogue with God-"The devils believe, fear and tremble!" Hebrews 11:6 tells us-"FOR HE THAT COMETH TO GOD MUST BELIEVE THAT HE IS, AND THAT HE IS A REWARDER OF THEM THAT DILIGENTLY SEEK HIM." And Romans 10:17 tells us "SO THEN FAITH COMETH BY HEARING, AND HEARING BY THE WORD OF GOD," and that is the reason that this Column urges that every one read all of God's Word and get familiar with what it says as much as possible, asking God and His Holy Spirit to be your TEACHER. "UNBELIEF" will prevent or cut off a "dialogue with God!" In both the fourth chapters of Matthew and Luke we have the account of Christ's temptation by the Devil. The Devil quoted Scripture, misapplying it in order to tempt Christ. Christ quickly cut off that part of the dialogue saying, "GET THEE HENCE, SATAN: FOR IT IS WRITTEN, THOU SHALT WORSHIP JHE LORD THY GOD, AND HIM ONLY SHALT THOU SERVE." And in Luke: "GET THEE BEHIND ME, SATAN: FOR IT IS WRITTEN"-note how Christ fought the Devil with what The Bible said, "It Is Written." Without Faith you cannot have a dialogue with God. However, the Devil will not only talk with you but also put his hook in your nose and lead you where he wants you to go! P.O. BOX 405 DECATUR, GEORGIA 30031
