(AP) - Eddie Murray drove home one run and set up another and Mike Flanagan pitched 7Y3 innings of two-hit ball yesterday, leading Baltimore to a 3-1 victory as the Orioles salvaged the final game of a three-game series with the Oakland A'a. Murray and Mark Belanger provided RBI-singles and Dan Graham hit a sacrifice fly to back Flanagan, 7-4. The only hits off him were a second-inning single by Mike Heath and a fifth-inning triple by Shooty Babitt.. IN THE FIRST inning, Al Bumbry and Rich Dauer singled off Rick Langford, 5-7. Bumbry took third on Ken Singleton's double-play grounder and scored on Murray's opposite-field single to left. In the fourth, walks to Terry Crowley and Graham preceded Belanger's run-scoring single. The final Baltimore run, in the eighth, came on a single by Murray, a sacrifice by Crowley, a single by John Lowenstein and Graham's fly to left. Expos 11, Braves 2 MONTREAL (AP) - Lance Parrish crashed his second homer of the season, a three-run blast in the fifth inning, to highlight a 12-hit attack that carried Bill Gullickson and the Montreal Expos to an 11-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves last night. Gullickson, 3-6, had been provided with only 11 runs by his teammates in his six losses this season. But he got plenty of support Wednesday and scat- tered 11 hits, walked two and struck out nine. RUN-SCORING singles by Dale Mur- phy and pinch-hitter Bob Porter in the fifth inning snapped Gullickson's shutout bid. Expos' rookie Tim Raines stole two bases, his 47th and 48th of the season. to move 20 games ahead of the pace set by St. Louis' Lou Brock in 1974, when he set a major league record with 118 steals. Royals 7, Blue Jays 4 TORONTO (AP) - Amos Otis drove in four runs on four hits, including a tie- breaking two-run double in the eighth inning, and George Brett hit his first home run of the season as the Kansas City Royals handed Toronto its 10th consecutive loss with a 7-4 victory last night. Dennis Leonard, 6-7, scattered nine hits by the Blue Jays. He struck out seven without issuing a walk. U. L. WASHINGTON walked with one out in the eighth and Brett singled off Mark Bomback, 3-5. With two away; Otis stroked a 3-0 pitch off reliever Joey McLaughlin to right-center to score both runners and break the 4-4 tie. Cesar Geronimo's single and stolen base and Willie Wilson's single gave Kansas City its final run in the ninth. The Royals scored in the second when Otis doubled, moved to third on a single by Hal McRae and scored when McRae was trapped between first and second. They made it 2-0 in the fourth when Otis singled home Washington, who had walked and stolen second. The Blue Jays tied it in the fifth. Al Woods led off with his first homer of the season, then Barry Bonnell singled, stole second and scored on Ernie Whitt's single. Reds 2, Mets 0 NEW YORK (AP) - Mario Soto tossed a six-hitter and George Foster hammered a leadoff home run in the fourth inning to lift the Cincinnati Reds to a 2-0 victory over the New York Mets last night. Soto, 6-6, worked his sixth con- secutive complete game and won for the fifth time in his last six decisions. He struck out 12 and issued one walk. (AP) - The National Collegiate Athletic Association yester- day placed the Southern Methodist University football program on probation for two years and barred the team from any televised games next season because of recruiting violations. The NCAA said the football team also is barred from participating in post- season bowl action next season.
