Page 14-Tuesday, June 2, 1981-The Michigan Daily 4 Club Sports Roundup RUGBY The Michigan rugby team won its match against Michigan State this past Saturday, 23-14, for its sixth consecutive victory. The way that the team has played of late, it would seem that the only thing preventing it from extending this streak is the fact that the encounter at Michigan State was their last of the season. John Hartman, who has continually proved to be an offensive stalwart, led the Wolverines in scoring with ten points by notching two tries and a conver- sion. Right behind Hartman in scoring in the contest was Tony Menyhart with nine points. The other point-getter for Michigan was David Weber who scored four points. The 'B' team rebounded from the previous week's 12-6 loss at the hands of the Detroit Tradesmen to beat the MSU 'B' 27-6. FRISBEE During the Memorial Day weekend, the Michigan frisbee team travelled to Madison, Wisconsin for a nine team tournament, and got to the tour- nament's finals before finally succumbing to the St. Louis Panturas by a 25-9 count. To get to the finals, Michigan played four games on the first day of the tournament, losing only to St. Louis. On the second and final day, the Wolverines beat Madison 17-16 in two overtimes. However, it was a costly victory as the two overtimes made the game last three hours, and with only 45 minutes to recover for the finals, fatigue set in. "The match against Madison just wiped us out," said Dave Neely. "We were just exhausted. By the time we got to the second overtime, we knew whoever won would get killed (against St. Louis)." The frisbee team's next match will take place on June 21 against the Yellow Springs Discos, who hail from Ohio. The sight for the match has Rot been finalized, but it will either by played at Elbel or Fuller Field. The B'rewers' centerfielder Marshall Edwards smashed the ball down the third base line to bring Thomas home and tie the game, 3-3. Tiger manager Sparky Anderson then brought in Dave Tobik in relief. Tobik promptly retired the side with a double-play grounder off the bat of Romero. The Tigers threatened in the fifth when Lynn Jones singled, but Lerch pitched his way out of trouble. The Brewers threatened in the sixth when Oglibie doubled down the first-base line, but was stranded there. In the eighth Saucier came in for Tobik and gave up singles to both Cecil Cooper and Oglivie. But Simmons hit into a double play and Wockenfuss caught a pop foul off the bat of Mark Brouhard, who batted for Edwards, to end the inning.
