fer women more services to make the
campus area safe, such as expansion of
the 'Nite-Owl'," she said.
Director of Safety Walter Stevens of-
fered several safety tips to students
who may find themselves alone on
campus late at night this summer, now
that the Nite-Owl has been discon-
tinued. Among the measures Stevens
said can discourage assaults on cam-
pus: Arranging for a ride with a friend,
parking as close as possible to the
building entrance, leaving messages
with roommates and friends concer-
ning your whereabouts and times you
can be expected home.
Stevens said the University also of-
fers an escort service for students. He
said his office will dispatch a security
officer to escort students home who
request the service late at night with no
other available means of transpor-
tation.
