You'll also make them last longer with a ULM tonearm/cartridge system. Pigs in the news The golf professional at the Diamond Ridge Golf Course in Woodlawn, Maryland is looking for the owner of some unexpected-and unwelcome-guests to the links. John Musser said about 15 squealing, smelly, and very elusive half-grown pigs turned up on the course early Sunday, much to the consternation of 30 people waiting to tee off (you could say they-were teed-off). Musser and two other employees pursued the pigs in golf carts. After a 25-minute chase through the 18-hole course, the pigs were rounded up and penned in a maintenance area. No one has yet claimed the pigs, and there is no word whether they replaced their divots. l A Meteorwrong If the Tupelo, Mississippi meteorite is not a meteorite, then what is it? "It's a meteor-wrong," says Dr. John Harris of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The 1,200-pound stone, long thought to be from outer space, is a hunk of "concreted sandstone" from here on earth, says Harris, a chemist and nuclear physicist with the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. The "meteorite," discovered in 1870 by Tupelo's first mayor, had never been examined scientifically before Harris looked at it. "We wish it had been a meteorite,",Harris said. If it had turned out to be from outer space, Harris continued, it would have been only the fourth verified metorite to fall on Mississippi. Some might say four is not enough. As is often true, the most direct way is less complicated, therefore, less costly and less likely to need repair. It's obvious that records will last longer if a stylus isn't digging into their grooves with unnecessary force. Having a total effective mass of only 8 grams, Dual's ULM system exerts only a half to a third of the force of most conventional designs. That also makes for more accurate tracking -- even over warps. And most records are warped to some small extent. But warped or not, all of your records will sound better. The Dual Model 506 semi-automatic turntable also has belt drive, four-point gyroscopic gimbal tonearm-suspension, and more outstanding features.
