* Possible conspiracy in Jordan shooting examined (Continued from Page1) Dr. Jeffrey Towles, who operated on Jordan for more than four hours after he was shot, examined the, civil rights leader yesterday morning and said, "We are extremely gratified at his progress. He's doing very well." A BULLET STRUCK Jordan in the lower back just left of the spinl cord and damaged his intestine, and a second bullet grazed his right leg, Towles said. But he said it is unlikely Jordan will suffer any lasting paralysis. Towles said when he talked with Jor- dan he detected no bitterness or animosity. "I think it (Jordan's reac- tion) is one such as we have of dismay and 'Why,"' he said. President Carter earlier had said he believed the attack "was an assassination effort" and that he was "filled with a sense of outrage and a sense of sadness." Residents of Indiana's second largest city said yesterday it's a "crying shame" their community now shares the stigma of Memphis and Dallas. President John Kennedy was slain in Dallas in 1963 and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the nation's most famous civil rights leader, was killed in Memphis in 1968. Heavy storm hits lower * Michigan, A2 struck hard (Continued from Page 3) A supervisor at the Graduate Library confirmed reports that water streamed in around the seams of closed windows during the worst of the storm. There was water leakage in the microform, map, and reserve rooms and the second sub-basement, the supervisor said. "I've looked around and it doesn't look like there's any damage," she said. Apparently the water did not touch the stacks or any other material, the supervisor said. - Weather service reports late yester- day afternoon told of a possible funnel cloud west of the city. But a spokesman for the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department said there were no funnel clouds sighted in the county/ "It was just a big wind," the spokesman sid. Psalms 2:1 and Acts 4:25 God tells us in Habakkuk 2:14: "For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of The Lord, as the waters cover the sea." The Prophet had complained to God of the great wickedness all about, of the power and prosperity of evil men, and it seemed as if God was somewhat indifferent of the wicked being on top and the righteous at the bottom. Habakkuk appeared to fear that God would reprove him for complaining. However, God said: "WRITE THE VISION, AND MAKE IT PLAIN UPON TABLES, THAT HE MAY RUN THAT READETH - THOUGH IT TARRY, WAIT FOR IT: BECAUSE IT WILL SURELY COME, IT WILL NOT TARRY." Have you ever read and believed the vision of God's wrath against evil enough to cause you to want to run? God further answers Habakkuk by pronouncing severe judgement, some of which are: "WOE TO HIM THAT IN- CREASETH THAT WHICH IS NOT HIS - WOE TO HIM THAT COVETETH AN EVIL COVETEOUSNESS - WOE TO HIM THAT ESTABLISHETH A CITY BY INIQUITY - WOE TO HIM THAT GIVETH HIS NEIGHBOR DRINK, THAT PUT. TEST THY BOTTLE TO HIM, AND MAKETH HIM DRUNKEN - THE CUP OF THE LORD'S RIGHT HAND SHALL BE TURNED UNTO THEE, AND SHAMEFUL SPEWING SHALL BE ON THY GLORY." After pronouncing these and other severe judgements God comforts Habakkuk by telling him "The earth shall be filled with theknowledge of the glory of The Lord, as the waters cover the sea." The waters do a good and complete job in covering the sea. When the "glory of The Lord" so covers the earth what will become of those folks out there on the beaches, and elsewhere, some of whom defile God's earth by go- ing about nearly naked encouraging or promoting im- morality and unchastity, if not fornication, adultery, and maybe illegitimate children! What will become of the drunks, gamblers, cheaters and swindlers! What will become of those who use God's Day and Sabbath for boating, drag racing, ball games whether golf or other kinds of balls? Will there be any such anywhere in the earth when "The glory of The Lord shall fill the earth as the waters cover the sea?" It is a case of "the glory of God" versus the glory of the world and the lusts of the flesh. Esau, the man who despised his birthright, said life was not worth living without the "mess of pottage." At the grave of Lazarus, Christ said to Martha: "Said I not unto thee, that if thou wouldest believe thou shouldest see the glory of God." John 11:40. We can't see anything but the glory of the world because we don't believe. Belief and faith cometh by hearing by The Word of God. Read your Bible! Believe your Bible! Obey your Bible, trusting God to do what you cannot do: open your spiritual eyes to "see the glory of God." "FOR THE EARTH SHALL BE FILLED WITH THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE GLORY OF THE LORD, AS THE WATERS THAT COVER THE SEA." - "The whole duty of man is to fear God, and keep His Commandments; for God will bring every work into judgement, and every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil."
