It wasn'c even me chat tripped. Iwas walking en East Univer- sity Ave. and semeene else tripped behind me, pitched ferward and in her panic latched ente the heed ef my winter rest. It was a pretty peintless meve alnetnet enly did she still end up face-dewn en the pavement, hut she ended up face- dewn en the pavement with me splayed en my bark en tep ef her. If1I ceuld draw a diagram, it weuld fea- ture my head en her lewer hack and beth legs te the left ef her head. After a few expletives and pan- icked "Are yeu ekay?"s, we gingerly picked eurselves up. Well, firstI picked myself up since she mould net, in fact, meve until I did. Iimagined hew great that must have leeked frem stress the street and started te laugh. I glanced up, ready with a geed-natured smile and an it-happens-ce-everyone sect ef remark, but I freze when I saw her expressien. She was definitely net happy. "Well - ah - it's really net that bad. I mean, we're beth ekay; it's kind ef funny," I effered. She just centinued te stare at me. "m wearing a white rest," she said. "Um, well, it deesn't leek that bad, yen can barely even - "No. Yen ran tell," she huffed.,"I just - ugh,. this stupid ire." She kicked the pavement and stermed eff. I stared. I'll bet it did leek really funny frem acress the street, theugh. I knew I was laughing. ELAINE LAFAY Megabus drama Iwas serenely, patiently wait- ing fer the Megabus te Chicage last Wednesday evening. The Thanks- giving-beund crewd ameund me grew and grew as the minutes passed, reaching at least a hundred peeple er se. Finally, a bus relied in te the step - butnet the indige dee- ble-decker we had been expecting, but a humble, generic reach bus. There were cenfused exclamatiens all ameund me, then a sudden rush tu be the first te enter the bus. Finding myself at the back,I cemplained leudly with the ethers, until the driver anneunced ever the din that anether bus weuld be reining. I increduleusly centinued te press en, until it became abun- dantly clear that I weuld net make the bus. Just as I was turning areund, defeated, the regular Megabus pulled in behind the reach, with sufficient teem fer all the remain- ing passengers. I seen was set- tled into my seat in the tep deck, relieved. ALLISON GHA MAN The University Library is selling several thousand gently used bunks.
