There's really only one place, at the University where students from all
corners of campus convene and set differences and politics aside for the
sake of a steak quesadilla. Started bytwo former college students and bur-
rito-enthusiasts Adam Lowenstein and Justin Herrick, BTB is an essen-
tial part of the late-night foraging-for-food experience.
It's accessible: the location on State and Hill streets is hardly a trek
from dorms on Central Campus. It's simple: the menu contains many of
the standard Mexican-food miscellany - tacos, nachos, burritos - and
it's far from pricey. And it's good: The place isn't packed on an average
night for nothing.
BTB likes to think it has "non-corporate feel," which means while
devouring your chimichanga next to a group of college co-eds doing the
same, it's fairlyeasy to forget that you're sitting in perhaps one of the most
lucrative food-related businesses on campus. What could be more entic-
ing? Maybe the fact that a new BTB located above Good Time Charlies is
scheduled to open in the fall.

Open until 4 a.m., Jimmy John's is the perfect place to stop on the
way home from a bar or a party when the drunken munchies hit you
with full force. Famous for its college town charm, there are Jimmy
John's locations all around the country. They make their eight-inch
sub sandwiches fast and inexpensively, and it's easy to stop by one of
their three locations near campus - on State St., South University and
Packard St. If you're not out or don't feel like walking, have no worries
- Jimmy John's delivers. Late at night. To the dorms.
You can stick with a classic favorite like the Turkey Tom or go for
one of the Giant Club sandwiches. There are also soft chocolate chip or
oatmeal raisin cookies to satisfy the sweet tooth. And pickles. Sold and
wrapped individually. So stop in for the "Free Smells" or order a late-
night snack. It'll be worth the time you won't have to wait.

NYPD
If you're willing to battle the post-Necto or post-Scorekeepers crowd on a weekend night, New
York Pizza Depot is worth the wait. NYPD's traditional cheese or pepperoni slices are only the
beginning of the wealth of toppings available, including everything from eggplant to shrimp.
On the corner of Williams and Maynard as well as South University and South Forest, NYPD provides a
convenient stopping point on a late-night journey across campus. You can order the large slices of pizza on
demand, making it fast and easy. Or, if simple pizza isn't enough, the extensive menu includes subs, pasta,
chipatiscalzones, rolls and salads.
Oh, and they're open until 4 a.m., making it easy to satisfy even the latest of cravings.

BELL'S PIZZA
For those of you not quite old enough to head
v, toward the east side of campus and check out the
bar scene on the weekends, you may think you're
missing out on the best late-night munchie stops,
too. Don't get too jealous though. While you may
~r not get to experience Backroom Pizza's $1 slices
without traveling down to the other side of cam-
pus, you certainly can still find the answer to your
post-midnight pizza craving elsewhere.
Bell's Pizza, located on the corner of State and
Packard,isthemostlogicalchoice.It's close enough
to most parts of campus to make it near-walkable
from just about any house party. And it's not just a
late-night destination, either. Bell's is a prime stop
after many athletic events as well. Whether you're
heading back to the dorms after a Saturday after-
noon football game or making a quick stop before
or after a hockey game, it's proximity to the ath-
letic fields is definitely a plus.

BACKROOM
One night this year, you'll be walking down Church Street on your
way back to your dorm after arduous hours of studying or another
activity your mother just doesn't need to know about. As you near South
University Avenue, you'll run into a line of people at the door of a small
kitchen and, like an oasis in a desert of darkened store fronts and polo-
clad drunks, you will have found it: Backroom.
Backroom, the side-enterprise of South University bar The Brown
Jug, is beloved for its low-priced, straightforward menu. Between 11
a.m. and 3 a.m., Backroom offers $1 cheese slices, $1.50 pepperoni slices
and $1 fountain drinks - no tax, no receipt. Supposedly, the menu also
includes spinach pie by the piece, but the dish's availability and quality
is dubious at best.
Backroom is a go-to establishment for a quick bite day or night.
Although many local shops offer $1 pizza slices, none other provides
drunken run-ins and late-night refuge from hunger like Backroom.
