2 - Tuesday, April 17, 2007 MONDAY: TUESDAY: WEDNESDAY: The Extremist Arbor Anecdotes Before You Were Here Sorry, wrong number THURSDAY: Campus Characters FRIDAY: Explained FLOWERING FRUIT I accidentally dialed the wrong number last month. The person who answered laughed and told me I had the wrong number. I thought nothing of it, dialed the correct phone number, and my day went on like normal. Then that afternoon, I received a text message from the wrong number I had called earlier: "Hey baby. i miss you lots. last night was a good time. we'll do a repeat." Unfortunately, I'd been on my own the night before. Even so, it made me smile. JAKE HOLMES On Easter Sunday, a surprise It was about 5 p.m. on Easter Sunday and I had just returned to my quiet home on Dewey Street. None of my housemates had come back to Ann Arbor yet. I was all alone. In an attempt to win their affec- tion and perhaps some of their left- overs, I decided to take out all the trash. After rolling out three full bar- rels and congratulating myself on a job well done, I was opening the front door of my house when I stopped and turned. First I heard yelling. Then I saw a boy wearing nothing but a red thong. I stood staring as I wit- nessed him streaking across my street, shouting "My dick is about to fall out!" followed closely by an SUV of shouting guys. Because the street was com- pletely deserted, I felt it was my duty to clap a few times in approv- al. LISA HAIDOSTIAN A birthday night serenade Walking home from the Blind Pig on my birthday last month, my friend and I were nearly alone on the deserted streets. We were coming down East Liberty Street when we sudden- ly found ourselves facing a large group of young men standing in a circle just outside of Cottage Inn. They began to sing, inviting us to join as they linked arms around us. We realized we had happened upon the entire Men's Glee Club. It was then that a friend of mine was in the group, and the glee club started to sing "Happy Birthday." I was flattered, having dozens of men serenading me in perfect harmony. However, as the verse ended, my friend rushed forward, trying to prevent my compan- ion and I from hearing the rest. I couldn'tmake outmost of the non- traditional lyrics with his hands clamped tightly over my ears, bar- ring the cheerful finale of "One year closer to DEATH."
