Magnanimously, the mayor of Houston opened his city's doors to the downtrodden victims. Despite Houston's generosity, nothing could completely assuage the anguish of the hapless victims. During the weeks following the storm, this anguish - along with moments of intense sorrow, joy, loss, pain, celebration, relief and bitterness - began to manifest itself. These photos hope to capture a small piece of the many stories that were created and lost in Houston in the aftermath of the disastrous Hurricane Katrina. x;, al 0 Clockwise from top left: New Orleans evacuees dance, sing and play during a "Second Line" march commemorating Hurricane Katrina victims outside of the Reliant Center.
