2. BRIAN GRIESE, '94-'97
Michigan won a national championship in 1997 under
Griese, which will make him a favorite in Ann Arbor until
the end of time. He was also the ultimate Buckeye killer,
going an unbelievable 3-0 versus Ohio State in his career.
He also chose to walk on at Michigan, which only adds to
his legend. In the pros, Griese earned a Super Bowl ring
backing up John Elway and now starts for Tampa Bay.

Why: The freshman recorded 24 kills, a career-high,
in the first round of the NCAA tournament, powering
the Wolverines toa 3-1 victory over Rice. She added
12 more kills and 13 digs the next night during the
team's 3-1 loss to Texas. Her 2004 total for kills is 364
- which sets a new school record for a freshman.
