"That's his opinion," Martin said.
"I really don't know what will hap-
pen."
One thing that Martin said he is
sure about is that he wants this long-
running scandal to be put to rest as
soon as possible.
"I show up to work everyday, and
this is always one of my top priori-
ties. Our objective is to get this
through the NCAA as soon as possi-
ble," Martin said. Michigan's next
time to plead its case will be in front
of the NCAA's Committee on
Infractions. Its next regularly sched-
uled meetings are Dec. 13-15 in
Indianapolis and Feb. 14-16 in Coral
Gables, Fla.

tin said.

Michigan."
Republicans have said that the ad
is justified because Granholm has
flip-flopped on the issue.
Granholm told an NAACP meet-
ing that she supports reparations,
but later said she never meant to
imply she supported monetary pay-
ments.
The rally drew about 20 protesters,
who stood outside the Michigan
State Auditorium chanting, "Go
Home Gore." Among them was Marc
Stemmer, who dressed in a suit and a
Gore mask for the gathering.
"A lot of people here are from
middle-class homes who think she's
too liberal," said Stemmer, a member
of the College Republicans.
As Granholm began to speak, a
handful of protesters near the back
of the auditorium began shouting,
"Liberal!" and "Extreme!"
Granholm smiled and waited until
the students left.
"The great thing about being a
Democrat is we believe in the First
Amendment," she said.
