You've been selected to take part in the random student inter- view Are you familiar with the feature? It's in Weekend Magazine. Random: You're kidding. Wait a sec- ond, do you mind if I put you on speak- er phone? TMD: No that's fine. R: OK. TMD: How do you feel about the recent breakup of Britney Spears and 'Nsync heartthrob Justin Timberlake? R: I feel guilty. Justin was a great guy. I didn't mean to confuse Britney. I'm not really into her. TMD: She broke up with him for you? R: That's one way of putting it. TMD: Who would make a better pin- up model: Arafat or Sharon? R: I can't answer that. TMD: Why not? Are you ashamed, embarrassed? R: They'd both make great pin-up models, in my opinion. TMD: Who is the Prime Minister of Canada? R: I'll have to get back to you on that one. TMD: On a scale of one to 10, how much do you hate Canadians? R: Considering I was there during the U.S./Canada hockey game, I'd have to say that Canadians are pretty ... Let's just say I don't like them that much. TMD: Do you think that Canadians smell bad? R: Do I think Canadians smell bad? No. TMD: I'm having a crisis. Can you rationalize premarital sex for me? R: If you're having a problem, then I think it's not for you. I would have to advise against it. TMD: What is the most embarrass- ing story you have from middle school? R: I had a crush on a girl and I stole her lunch and I tried to give it back to her and I was like, "Oh, I found your lunch" but the teacher found out and I got in trouble. TMD: This is from middle school? How old were you? R: I was about 18. TMD: Spell paradigm. R: P-A-R-A-I uh-uh-uh - no. Wait. P-A-R-A-D-I-G-M. TMD: That's correct. R: Thomas Kuhn! TMD: What? R: Thomas Kuhn - "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions." He's the guy who coined the term. TMD: Oh. Anyway. Do you think you will be better understood by your contemporaries or by future historians? R: I don't think anyone is going to ever understand me. No. TMD: Stucchi's or Ben and Jerry's? R: Local. Stucchi's. TMD: Pine or Mulberry? R: I like Outlook.. TMD: But, Pine is a Unix-based sys- tem that allows the user the ultimate in mobility and comfort. R: It's pretty damn ugly but it does it's job. TMD: Do you have a dark underbel- ly? R: Are you telling or asking? I was going to say you were wrong. TMD: Do you know how to make the upside down question mark in Microsoft Word? Or as we like to call it, "el ques- tion mark?" R: You go to like insert symbol, then you search. in that long list. So yeah, I do. TM: But what if you were held hostage in a Cuban - R: Oh wait a minute - I remember the prime minister of Canada - it's like Jean Chrtien or something. I can't spell it. TMD: Did you hear my last ques- tion? R: No. TMD: But what if you were held hostage in a Cuban prison? R: I would tell them I have some deadly transmittable disease and to get me off the island or else everyone is. going to get it. "The Man Who Eats Snakes & Other Tales." 4 p.m., Crazy Wisdom, 114 S.
