Faces of Women
"El Hogar de Ancianas" in San Antonio, Ecuador

There is an old-age home for
women in the small town of
San Antonio, Ecuador. Each
woman pays $40-$45 per
month unless they can only
afford to pay less. Some
women still have families,
others have been abandoned.
At the home the women get
meals, and those who need
assistance receive it. Many of
the women in the home suffer
from mental illness, but few
have been diagnosed with
anything. The women live
day by day, relaxing around
the home. Most of them do
not leave and those that do
usually need to be escorted.
These are portraits of a few of
those women.
