By Josh Wickerham Daily Arts Writer The Michigan Daily: Hi, is this Ryan Neil Haag? Random: Yes it is. TMD: This is Josh Wickerham from The Michigan Daily. Out of 40,000 students on this campus, you have been randomly selected to have your opinion printed for the masses. What do you think of that? R: That's pretty damn cool. TMD: Have you ever read my feature - the Random Student Interview? R: No, actually I haven't. TMD: Have you ever read Weekend, etc. Magazine? R: No, I have never actually heard of it before. I skim thru The Daily. I don't read read it, as in I don't read it very seriously. I don't see it as a very serious paper. I do extract information from it on occasion. TMD: Well, let's launch right into this. Have you ever heard of MSA? R: Yes, I have. TMD: How do you feel about the resolution L 4 passed on Tuesday night? R: The one saying MSA is in favor of the strikes in Afghanistan? TMD: Yes. R: Their concern for the support of the troops is good, but kind of silly because I didn't think that the U.S. cared whether MSA cared whether they should be at war. It's kinda ridicu- lous. I do see the reason ... actually, I just view it as a nonchalant. They passed it while no one cared. I don't care. If something comes. I don't see any good or bad that came out of it. TMD: What do you think the impact of the resolution passed Tuesday will be on U.S. foreign policy? R: Absolutely nothing. TMD: Are you pro- or anti-war? R: I am pro-war as long as we concentrate on eliminating the problem. Number one, we kill the people who caused the horror of the W.T.C. and the Pentagon. And we give humanitarian aid because I feel that the people there are not their government. Their government is a tyran- ny. If they had a normal government, they would have normal relations with us. I think right now we're going in the right way towards solving the problem. TMD: Who did you vote for for MSA president? R: Let's see. I voted for the Michigan Party TMD: Who do you like better? Doug Tietz or Chip Englander? R: Ehh. I'm kinda equal on both of them. I'm evenly split. TMD: Have you ever had a Rax Burger at the Rax fast food chain? R: No, I have not. TMD: Good. Neither have I. What do you think about scientologists? R: Interesting people. Don't they derive their beliefs from Christianity'? TMD: No, you're thinking of Christian scientists. Have you ever read the book "Dianetics" by L. Ron Hubbard or seen the John Travolta movie "Battlefield Earth"? R: No, I have not. TMD: OK, on a more serious note, how do you feel about the prospect of peace in the world? Do you think G.W Bush is handling things adequately in the aftermath of this terrible tragedy? R: Number one, peace will never exist. We live in a short-sighted soci ety. People don't claim responsibility and are more willing to screw over their neighbors than ever. The only way to change the govern ment is if everybody dies and they go to heaven or hell. We should still strive for peace. A large population in the world doesn't want peace. They want to beat up their neighbor and create violence. We either have to take control of them or kill them. Bush is responding to the problem properly. He's getting at the people who caused the problem and humanitarian aid is smart because not everyone was involved. TMD: If you found a Kit Kat bar in the middle of the road and the corner was unwrapped just a bit, but uneaten, and the rest of it was fine, would you pick it up and eat it? R: I am really not that desperate for food. Theater. 4:45, 7:15 & 9:30 p.m. Mission See Friday. State Theater. 2:30, 4:30, 7:15 & 9:15 p.m. Tortilla Soup See Thursday.
