As New York attempts to
recover from an attack that
left as many as 5,000 people
- including 300 firefighters
who sacrificed their lives in
valiant rescue attempts -
buried in the rubble of its
fallen landmarks, memorials
across the city remind the
city to keep hope. Choirs sing
songs of patriotism on street
corners while flyers bearing
pictures of the missing and
phone numbers of their
grieving relatives flutter on
street lamps. New Jersey
residents across the river are
growing used to a different
sight. A city that was reduced
to silence is beginning to
regain its voice as people
slowly return to their homes
and jobs.
