Daily Arts Writer

The Michigan Daily: Hello, is
this 764-27##?
Random: Yes
TMD: Have I reached the party to
whom I'm speaking?
R: Yes
TMD: And the party is?
R: Not a clue.
TMD: Alright. Well, you've been
selected for The Michigan Daily's
"Random-student interview'" It's
where I ask you random questions
and you answer. It's sorta like win-
ningy the lotto, but without win-
ning any money. Have you ever
won anything before?
R: No, actually I have haven't.
TMD: That's unfortunate. I'm
going to ask the perennial question.
What did you do last summer?
R: What did I do last summer?
Before I came here? I worked at a
marina. Hey, dude, do you want to
know my name?
TMD: Hmm...Yeah, I guess that
would be good.
R: Stan
TMD: Do you want to give me
your
last name'?
R: Uh. not really. What is this for ?
TMD: The Michigan Daily. It will
be
in Weekend, etc. Magazine.
R: Ok, I'll give you my last name.
Bastek
TMD: So you worked at a marina,
huh? Does anyone know what you
did last summer'?
R: Yeah, I'm sure there are.
TMD: Do you know what Jennifer
Love Hewitt did last summer?

R: Not a clue.
TMD: What's your favorite Taco
Bell
item?
R: Probably the Mexican pizza.
TMD: Good choice. If you could
be
any campus celebrity, who would
you be?
R: I didn't know we had any cam-
pus celebrities.
TMD: Of course we do. Do you
know

With the time to wear all of those
summer styles fading fast, it is a
must to recap the season's hottest
trends in order to make the best of
the finale of summer sunshine.
One would have had to go
through this summer with blinders
on to not have picked up on some
of the major fads. Talk about trend-
o-rama!
Hollywood always influences the
fashion and with the release of the
'Charlie's Angels' movie last year,
aviator sunglasses have found their
way back into the limelight. You
choose the color; they're a sure way
to spice up any outfit. And they are
not just for kids-parents are trying
out this one too.

Even basic tank tops are being cut
to show off the ever-desired tan
midriff. Add to that a pair of chunky
flip-flops (how high can they go?),
and you are almost set!
Don't forget your fatigues. Be it a
belt or an army print tee or tank,
something's gotta go military.
(Rhinestones are definatelty an
added bonus.)
Top that off with
a cowboy hat, a
nod to the
Material Girl's
world tour, and
you're ready to
go.
Remember to
also keep an eye
out for this fall's
rages. Bowling
are a must, along-
super-low-waisted

long sweaters you've invested in aren't going
anywhere!
To add a bit more glam to your eveningwear,
don't be afraid to dig out some old eighties
attire.
Thick, hip slung belts are making a big
comeback and white heels aren't too far
behind. You've seen it all before, and now
you'll see it all again!

who Jessica Curtin is? We have
Jessica Curtin, the leader of
DAAP She's kind of a celebrity. Is
there any celebrity in general'?
R: Probably Brad Pitt.
TMD: Any reason?
R: He's been in some pretty cool
movies and he seems like a hard
ass.
TMD: On a more serious note,
when
someone like your grandchild asks
you where you were on Tuesday
September -11, 2001, when you
heard the big news, will you have
a good story ?
R: Not really I will probably tell
them that I didn't hear about it
until 11:30 and was shocked in the
middle of my Spanish class.
TMD: One final question. Do you
know what the word felching
means?
R: Can you repeat it?
TMD: Felching. F-e-l-c-h-i-n-g.
R: Not a clue.
Josh, in his never-ending quest to
interview a student who knows the
meaning of "felching" may have vour
number: Stand by your phone every
W'Vednesdav night to be a campus
celebritv.

As always, denim is a must-wear,
but the variations this summer brought the
look to a new extreme. Cut! Cut! Cut! Cut the
bottoms of your jeans into capris, cut the bot-
tom of your jean skirt, welcome back the old
mini of the 80's, and don't forget to cut off thew
waist for some added appeal.
