X12- The Michigan Daily -- Tuesday, March 20, 2001 SENIOR Continued from Page 10 Ten for seven consecutive years. Then the Thorius era began as she started every game in her freshman year. In the four years with the offense under her control, Michigan has made four consecutive trips to the postseason,, including three NCAA appearances. Statistically speaking, Thorius left her mark all over the record books as the first Michigan player with 500 assists, 1000 points and 400 rebounds. The ben- efits Michigan received from Thorius were reciprocated as she developed in the four years with the program. "I've just grown through this whole experience. It's been amazing," she said. "I could never just put this behind me." She already accomplished her dream at Michigan of playing in the United States - but she's not so sure she's ready to stop yet. "I always thought I'd want to go back to Europe and play, but I'm not so keen on the idea anymore," Thorius said. "The WNBA is definitely a number one dream right now. If not, I'm just look- ing for ajob like any other senior." Digital Democracy Computers and the Shaping of Public Opinion IRISH Continued from Page 10 In fact, they seem to have built a career on it. But the Irish came out with too many weapons in the second half. Notre Dame boosted the lead to 29 by midway through the half, as Joyce's threes and Riley's consistent rebounding kept Michigan's defense frantic. Thorius played aggressively and passionately in her final game in the maize and blue. Seven rebounds, five points, six assists, three steals and a block were impressive - but not near- ly enough for any kind of Michigan comeback. Alayne Ingram, the hero of Satur- day's comeback win against the Cava- liers, shot only 3-18 from the field, although many of those shots were in desperation as the Irish's lead grew. Every player on both rosters saw action in the waning minutes, as a Notre Dame victory was assured. Seniors Thorius and Katie Dykhouse were both on the floor for their final minutes as Wolverines. Michigan has never advanced fur- ther than the second round of the NCAA Tournament, but, with some gifted. recruits and a little luck, they may find themselves poised for a longer run next season.
