The Micigan Daily ~9weekend-etc. M
By Usa Rat and Jeff DfU.iUe
Books Editor and TV/New Me& dio
Those who know him cannot help but
love him: He is Wesley Willis, the head-
butting, keyboard-playing paranoid
schizophrenic whose delusions of rock-
stardom actually came true.
The festivities began last Saturday
night at Willis' sold-out show at the
League and included two opening acts of
varying quality, plus Willis' full-force
renditions of crowd-pleasers such as
"Suck a Panda's Cock," "I'm Whupping
Your Ass," and "Rock and Roll
McDonald's." Before the night got
underway, howver, The Michigan Daily
was fortunate enough to sit down and
have a good old-fashioned chat with Mr.
Willis:
VWesley Willis: Alright. Say "rock!"
The Michigan Daily: Rock!
WW: Say "roll."
TMD: Roll.
WW: Say "rock!"
TMD: Rock!
WW: Say "roll."
TMD: Roll.
WW: Say "rock!"
TMD: Rock!
WW: Say "roll."
TMD: Roll.
WW: Rrrrrrrrrrnrrrrr!
TMD: Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Alright, Mr. Willis, we're going to ask
I
you a couple of questions if that's ok
WW: Yeah!
TMD: So, this isn't your first time in
Ann Arbor. How many times have you
been here before?
WW: Five times.
TMD: Do you like the campus? Do
you like coming to the University to per-
form?
WW:Ido.
TMD: Great! Are you going to be
playing any new songs for us tonight?
WW: Yeah!
TMD: Alright, good. What are they
called?
WW: You'll find out.
TMD: Hey, would you mind playing
"Alanis Morisette?". That one is my
favorite.
WW: Uhh, I would like to play that
song but I'm not going to.
TMD: Can you give us any clues
about what you're going to be playing
tonight?
WW: I will be playing "Suck a
Donkey's Ass," "I Whupped Robin's
Ass" and many more.
TMD: Do you have any new CD's
coming out?
WW: Yeah! Ass-cap.
TMD: Icecap?!
WW: Ass-cap. How ya doin'?
TMD: Good. When do you expect the
CD to be coming out?
WW: It's gonna be coming out in
three weeks.
TMD: Three weeks, that's great. So,
have you been doing any of your artwork
lately?
WW: No, I have not ... but I'm going
to get some art done anyway.
TMD: Will you be going around your
native Chicano doing the art?
WW: Yeah. Give me a head-butt!
