EQuestion & Answer Interview
Learning about 'fags' and God from the Phelps posse
By Josh Wickerhaunand Nick Woomer
Daily Editorial Rage Editors
At the Ait Bar Saturday. protesters
gathered following Lesbian Gay
Bisexual Transgender Asssociation
Visibility Week. The Michigan Daily
found, among others, a woman with a
sign advertising mntitigodhawes/ags comr.
Here are some of her comments follow-
ing the demonstration orchestrated by
Rev. Fred Phelps.
The Michigan Daily: What's with
Fred Phelps' obsession with anal sex?
Protester: le doesn't have an obses-
sion with anal sex! Next question'?
TMD: He doesn't? He has more facts
and figures on his website than I've ever
seen.
P: He doesn't do the webpage. He's
not the webmaster. Now do you have a
relevant question, hon?
From the crowd: Is he gay?
P: He's a 72-year-old man, been mar-
ried to one woman all his life. He spends
his resources on a ministry that makes
sure all you fags hear the warning that is:
If you die in an unrepentant state as a
practicing fag, you're gonna wake up in
hell.
TMD: Some people say that gay sex
can be very spiritual-
P: Only really perverted people.
TNMD: Some say the way to God is
through ecstatic and spiritual sexuality-

P: Here's what the problem is with
that question. You're confusing lust with
a spiritual experience. See how that
works?
TMD: It's not lust, it's passion.
P: No, hon, you have the questions. I
have the answers. Walking after your
own lust is not a spiritual experience.
TMD: What about lusting after the
flesh of Jesus in the form of commu-
nion?
P: Now see that's a big lie. You don't
have to worry about that That's a little lie
the Roman Catholic Church made up.
You don't even have to worry about that
cuz it's not true.
TMD: Why are you just concerned
about people being gay'?
P: I'm not!
TMD: Ok, so-
P: You're not gay, by the way. None of
you guys are gay. You're hard-core mis-
erable! That's just a lie you made up to
try to draw the American psyche away
from that filthy act you do.
TMD: But here's my question--
P: But you mean why am I concerned
about the fags? I'm not just concerned
w ith the fags! But it is only the fags right
now who march in fag pride parades.
And it is only fags right now who ask for
special protection for their sexual perver-
sions.
TMD: I don't care about your
rhetoric just answer-
P: Now if they had a racist pride
parade, we'd have godhatesruciss.com,
so don't worry.
From the crowd: There's no differ-
ence between consensual acts and non-
consensual acts?
P: There's no difference between per-
verted sex and perverted sex. Now why
do we focus on only fag sex'? Cuz you're
the ones havingtu the fag pride paades!
Every question you have about sex -
where you like to live and dwell - is
answered by the same question. One
woman, one man, for life. And all the
rest, that's just a lotta gutter talk. And I'm
not gonna answer that kinda nonsense
because it's not edifying.
From the crowd: I know there are
children here-
P: Yes, there are children here and
thank God they're learning the truth!
From the crowd: According to psy-
chologists---
P: I don't care what psycho-babblers
say. You started off with the wrong
proposition. I don't care what those psy-
cho-babblers think or say.
From the crowd: Do y'ou allow them
(the children) to call people names?
P: I allow them to use proper etymo-
logically and histrically and scripturally
accurate words to describe the things
standing in front of them.
From the crowd: Fag is a slang word!
P: No, that's a beautiful, etymological-
ly, historically, scripturally accurae
word.
From the crowd: Do you allow
them to call blak people niggers?
P: No, I've been a civil rights
lawyer for 20 years and we don't use
the N' word in our household. But
we sure use the fag word, cuz it's a
good word.
P: This ain't no interview, this is
you bein' an idiot!
