THE ROyAD LESS TRAVELED

Driving on campus can be an
absolute nightmare. Too many cars,
too few parking
spaces and too
many students
in too much of
a hurry to get to
class. It's no
wonder so
many students
forego driving

for getting in shape and struttin'
'round campus, but there's some-
thing to be said about taking a
leisurely drive around town in your
car. Throw in the fact that Old Man
Winter is knocking on the door and
it's doubtful you'll want to trudge
through the sludge when snow falls.
Paying a few bucks for gas is well
worth taking the time to discover
some of the best driving spots in A2.
You'll find it's not just a peaceful

experience but enhances the pleasure
of driving overall. You might even
find yourself taking the longer, more
scenic way home.
One of best drives in the area is
hidden away by Main Street down-
town. After Main turns into M-14 by
the Huron River, Barton Drive comes
up as the first exit on the right side.
Most people fly by when heading
towards 1-275 on their way out of
town, but Barton is well worth a

look. Even the exit ramp is a
sweeping curve, enough to
anyone feel like giving a little
gas until the tires start to sqt
comes to a stop facing Huron
Taking a left points you backt
toward Plymoiuth Road and
Campus. Instead, take a rigl
into the clearing. Once past thi
way. you'll find nothing but m
smooth asphalt, leading into t
teal fields of Michigan. Tho
