The combination of a talented freshman class and the return of key upperclassmen puts the Wolverines in position to crack the top half of the league. Key returners - The performances of Derek Applewhite and Jeremy Schneider will be vital to the success of the runners. Shot putter Nick Rogers is coming off a record-setting performance at the Michigan Intrasquad. Fresh faces - Brian Turner and Tom Greenless expect to ride the momentum of outstanding opening cross-country seasons. Ike Okenwa - Michigan's leading sprinter expects big things this year. Okenwa took seventh and fifth in the 100-meter dash during the last two years' Big Ten - Championships. At Big Tens he had a Michigan season and personal-best of 20.57 in the 200-meter.
