With two aboard and one out, Reese it his 10th homer off Ricky Bottalico 3-8), prompting the Reds to spill out f the dugout to form a jubilant cluster round home plate. The Reds have won five of six ;4s, positioning themselves for their irst postseason appearance since 1995. he Reds moved a game ahead in the 'L wild-card race as the New York ets lost to Philadelphia 3-2. Byrd (15-10) allowed two runs and five hits in seven innings with two walks and six strikeouts. Mets starter Rick Reed (10-5) allowed three runs and three hits in six innings, including Rico Brogna's two- run homer in the fourth. Brogna hit a two-run homer in the fourth after Bobby Abreu walked, stole second and went to third on a throwing error by Piazza. MILWAUKEE 11, HOUSTON 3: Marquis Grissom went 4-for-6 with a homer and five RBIs, backing Milwaukee rookie Kyle Peterson as the Brewers beat the Astros 11-3. Peterson (3-7) allowed two runs and seven hits in six innings. He struck out five and walked two. Scott Elarton (9-5) allowed five runs and seven hits in 2 2-3 innings. He walked one and struck out three before Chris Holt relieved. Grissom's three-run double high- lighted a four-run second inning. Grissom homered in the fifth and hit an RBI double in the seventh. Jeromy Burnitz led the second with a double and Geoff Jenkins singled. Ron Belliard's single scored Burnitz for a I- 0 lead. Brian Banks singled to load the bases and, with two outs, Grissom smashed a line that cleared the bases. Bill Spiers cut it to 4-1 in the third with an RBI single. Pokey Reese powered Cincinnati past St. Louis with a dramatic 12th inning run.
