rather than underestimating cost.
The bulk of the underestimated costs - S213,000 -
are lumped into a category labeled "Other Operating
0 xpenses," a category Goss thinks may include the costs
f consolidating Michigan's summer sports camps and
bringing them under the purview of the Athletic
Department.
Other underestimated expenses included $55,000 of
"administrative" expenses and $5,000 in "Grant-in-Aid"
expenses.
Based on numbers received in April, the department
expected to garner $3.15 million in gifts, but in fact
received only S2.65 million.
The department also overestimated its investment
income by $167,000. The actual amount received was
shown to be $1,793,000.
The audit shows a $37,000 overestimation of "other
income," $30,000 overestimation of postseason revenues
and a $14,000 overestimation of "facilities" income.
