Staff Picks are back!
very fall, a different story seems to emerge from the Daily's Staff Picks. Last year, Jim
Rose's less-than-expert selections drew numerous e-mail suggestions, all of which
enabled him to finally get the paper bag off his head and win a Best Bet.
This year, who knows what will emerge? The Daily's four football writers will attempt to
grab the crown of 'Picks Expert' of 1999. One will grab the glory. One picked Ohio State to
win it all in Kickoff. But you'll have to wait to find out why. Trust us, there's a very good rea-
son.
They hope to be able to hold their heads high and sport a better-than-.500 record come
January.
Don't forget, these picks are made against the spread. Some might associate Staff Picks
with sports gambling, because of our inclusion of the betting lines when making our picks.
We hope this is not the case. But if you want to yet ... well, it's against the law, and if we
pick as well as last year's writers, you'd be better off mailing the cash directly to us.
So see if you can match wits with the Daily's stable of football experts. We spend long
hours following football, both at Michigan and around the nation, so you don't have to. But
if that urge proves too much, and you can't hold back ... our address is 420 Maynard st., Ann
Arbor, Mich. 48109. We take checks.
