For instance, from an underage delin- quent you'd probably hear, 'Man, "Where Ico Canada is secool people take a you only have dav t a di to be 19 to drink.' F r o m someone who is past that stage in life, you might get 'Canada uses the metric system.' Now if instead of stopping Average Joe, you were to stop Michigan hockey captain Sean Peach, you'd definitely get a unique answer. A native of Langley, British Columbia, Peach is a true Canadian at heart. As a result, the nuances of daily life between western Canada and Ann Arbor stick out a little more clearly to him. "People are a lot more relaxed back home;' Peach said. "Here people are always on the go. They always want to get stuff done right away and have goals set. Where I come from, people take life one day at time." Ok, so that's the first true insight into Canadian life you might hear. That major cultural difference is also some- thing you definitely wouldn't notice from a quick trip to Windsor. But something else stuck out more. "It was a total shock when I first came here," Peach said. I went to Abercrombie quite a bit my freshman year. People say Canadians wear tighter jeans and that we're a couple of years behind in style back home." Yet, regardless of the cultural differ- ences between British Columbia and Michigan, Peach has felt at home since his first visit to Yost Ice Arena.
