The Michigan rifle club took dead aim in its last meet of the 1999-2000 season this weekend, but the future of the program is not nearly as focused. On Saturday, the Wolverines defeated Howe Military Academy, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan and Central Michigan in an all day shoot-out with a score of 1938 out of 2400 points. Tournaments are shot similar to Olympic style competition, consist- ing of three matches, which are shots fired at targets in various areas - each one with 10 bulls eyes. Each team has to shoot a total of 60 bulls eyes - 20 shots lying down, 20 kneeling and a final 20 shot standing. The top four individual scores qualify and are added up to provide a team score. Paul Moore was the top individual, finishing with a total score of 517, Neil McNeight followed with 484 points, and Ray Braekeveld had 472. Ken Denison rounded out the teams score with a 465. After a great season, the Wolverines may be left without a place to practice for next year. This past season they practiced at the ROTC rifle range. But cramped for space with the Ann Arbor Rifle team and ROTC, they may have to look elsewhere for a shooting range. There are plans to possibly move to Eastern Michigan or Washtenaw Community College in hopes of gaining a new shooting range. -Rhonda Gilmer Gonna Fly Now!'
