Same old,:.
stor: Daily
et News againy
It happened again.
For the second time in as many
years, The Michigan Daily beat the
State News in a touch football game,
handing the Spartans a 91-84 loss at
Elbel Field in a marathon game St
lasted more than three hours.
History was made at this year's
event, when members of the losing
squad produced a scrap of paper
after the game bearing the words,
"Who's your daddy?" The scroll was
an apparent reference to former
Daily Sports Editor Alan
Goldenbach, who infuriated, State
News players last year by chanting
the phrase while running back one of
several interceptions. State Nos
players had planned to taunt Daily
players with the paper had they won.
They didn't win, of course.
Daily staff members said they
would frame the scrap of paper,
which will become the game's annu-
al Brown Jug-like trophy.
The Daily wasbpropelled by the
twin surprise break-out perfor-
mances of men's golf stalwarts
Harpster and Kevin Rosen fi .
Wide receiver Mike Solomon over-
came a nasty leg gash to haul in sev-
eral touchdown passes, most of them
over State defensive back Al Toby.
State quarterback Joe Rexrode com-
plained a lot, but did manage to
march his team to three straight
touchdowns against the Daily's all-
female lineup.
