will be much improved," Carr said prior

of the last year that are unacceptable."

will be filled by sophomore Whitley, and
Clarence Williams, who fumbled one
against Notre Dame and Anthony
Thomas, will handle kickoff duties.

Marcus Ray isn't just the leader of Michi

He joins Tommy Hendricks as the anony-
mous duo, which, without Woodson's
enormous shadow, should.this year gain
more notoriety for its consistent play. Be
assured, though, that their spots are far
from secure_- especially with the talent-
ed freshman class.
"Cato June and Todd Howard are the
freshmen at (cornerback) and have
looked good in practice," Carr said. "We

questions about his former roommate,
Michigan's strongest safety decided he
didn't want to talk about his best friend,
Charles Woodson, anymore. Instead, he
wanted to concentrate on the players that
play for this year's Michigan team.

ents, they are not worried about
Woodson's departure, it is plainly evident
