Stick some naughty faires with a mis-
matched troupe of fools, run them into a
frustrated foursome of gender-bending
lovers, dress the whole lot like the Spice
Girls and have them boogie to the live
music of local band Maschina - and you
get the musical theatre department's
wonderfully wacked-out version of
Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's
Dream."
This jewel of a production runs through
Sunday night, so get to the Trueblood
Theatre early and maybe someone will be
able to sneak you in.
Clockwise from top left: Helena (Gavin Creel - yep, the guy in
the red shirt) is shocked by Lysander's (Matt Toronto) sudden affec-
tion. Bottom (Seth Hitsky) undergoes a strange transformation,
thanks to some fairy dust. Rude Mechanical Mike Short plays a wall
while Bottom rocks on. Queen Titania (Jennifer Schwarz) and King
Oberon (Eric Jackson) finally start behaving like civilized fairies.
The mischievous Puck (Catherine Marsh) toots her own horn.
