Michigan freshman makes
his mark in CCHA action
The Associated Press
Michigan center Mark Kosick and Northern Michigan
University defenseman Curtis Sheptak were named Central
Collegiate Hockey Association players of the week on
Sunday.
Kosick, a freshman, won offensive honors after scoring
three goals Friday and recording two assists Saturday as the
Wolverines won twice at Alaska-Fairbanks, 6-3 and 4-3.
Kosick - a native of Victoria, British Columbia - spent
last season with the Victoria Salsa of the British Columbia
hockey league. He was a standout performer with five game-
winning goals in 54 games.
CCHA stardom is on Kosick's side - his former coach
Garry Davidson was Brendan Morrison's coach in the BCHL.
"Mark is a talented young player who should emerge as a
very productive center as his career wears on," Michigan
hockey coach Red Berenson said.
Sheptak, a senior, won defensive honors, after leading the
Wildcats' defense in a sweep at Western Michigan.
