Rehabilitation with Dr. MilL
Sonya Miller, a fourth-year resident at University Hospitals
spends her days in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitatio
department. Many of Miller's patients have been in car acci
dents and are recovering from head or spinal cord injuries.
Others have suffered a stroke or aneurysm. Miller said her
as a doctor is to "get people functioning and independent"
coordinating their physical, occupational and speech therap
Residency begins after the completion of medical school ai
varies in length depending on the field of specialty. Miller
completing her final year as a resident and said she hopes t
join a private practice to work with both inpatient and outp
tient rehabilitation after she graduates.
