To the fans of Michigan Basketball:
We are writing this letter to express our deep disappointment over the
dismissal of Coach Steve Fisher. As student managers who served under
Coach Fisher, we dedicated our time and energy to.a program we strongly
believed in. We often worked 40-50 hours a week without compensation
because we loved Michigan Basketball and the principles by which Coach
Fisher ran his program-with integrity and honesty.
Since serving under Coach Fisher, we have become doctors, lawyers,
investment bankers, entrepreneurs, etc., and have no reason for
writing this letter other than to set the record straight for those who do not
know him personally. He is a caring and loving man, one who looks after his
players, fellow coaches, and managers as if they were his own family.
He treats everyone fairly and acts in the manner he expects all who associate
with him to act-with dignity and class. He is a tireless worker who demands
hard work and dedication from all who serve under him. His goal was to
have a championship program, both on and off the court.
If anyone has an insight into how the Michigan Basketball Program works, it
is the managers. We assisted in ever aspect of the program from the top to
the bottom. At no time did we encounter any sort of behavior which would
compromise the integrity of the program or the University. Coach Fisher and
his assistants, in particular Brian Dutcher, always acted professionally and
would never put themselves or any member of his staff or team in a position
that violated any rules, morals, or ethics. Coach Fisher epitomizes what

college athletics are about-dedication, professionalism, and honesty.
That is why we were loyal to him in the past, and why we will remain loyal to
him in the future.
It is hard to imagine that those who made the decision regarding Coach
Fisher knew him as well as we do. If they did, they would not have dismissed
a man who brought success and honor to, the University of Michigan and
made all those who.associated with him very proud. Michigan Basketball has.
lost a terrific coach, but more importantly a terrific person.
