Black Uhuru was one of the most successful Reggae bands of the early '80s and was one of the marquee bands for RAS Records, the first major Reggae labels in the US. Some of Uhuru's more widely known songs include; "GuessWho's Coming to Dinner" and "I Love King Selassie." In 1985, their album "Anthem" received the first-ever Grammy for Reggae. Nasir cheats a not developing his characters l, leaving no likable or sympa- characters to enliven a story which has far too many holes. Bob is often selfish and hard to understand. Diane is aloof and bizarre, while the Esterbrooks are the quintessential dys- functional couple. Like many bad science-fiction movies that people watch just for the special effects, "The Higher Space" leaves the reader dissatisfied with the novel's hum- drum cop-out ending and its oyerall sloppiness. Still, Nasir does a good job of tempt- ing the reader into thinking that perhaps this book isn't so bad after all. But the bottom line is that this book is not cohe- sive enough to tell a compelling story that people will be able to follow and enjoy. - Julia Shih You are invited to attend a FREE LSAT Admissions Seminar at the Ann Arbor Kaplan Center on Thur., September 18th at 6:30.
