The Michigan Daily - Monday, December 8, 1997 - 7A

JICK ETS
itinued from Page 1A
"i wish they would have announced (the
:Change) earlier," Lucas said. "It will alleviate
somie problems ... but it will do it at the cost of
people who made their plans before this was
announced."
LSA senior Nancy Roth said she thinks the

whole process would have been easier with some
better planning.
"I wish they had delegated seats here," Roth
said. The process for picking up tickets in
Pasadena "kind of reminds me of the way we got
tickets here."
Stacer said she feels sympathetic to the fans
who won't make it to Pasadena in time to pick up
tickets on Dec. 30, but said ever-changing plans

are a fact of life.
"1 think it kind of sucks, but it's not unfair because
it's the Rose Box wI and they can do w hat they want,"
Stacer said.
In spite of the long lines and many annoyances,
Roth said the complicated process will be worth it in
the end.
"I'm just glad to go," Roth said. "I'll be happy to be
there."

ROSE
Continued from Page IA

"The next step is to be officially
accepted to Oxford," Rose said. "I will
then meet with the other Rhodes
Scholars in Washington, D.C., in
September ... and then they take us to
England aboard the Queen Elizabeth II."
Vice President for Student Affairs
Maureen Hartford said she was very
excited to hear about Rose's honor.
"i'm so happy for her," H artford said.
"I think she will reflect very well on the
University."
Rose said that although the process
was very long and arduous, she received
a lot of support from the University.
"I got a lot of institutional support,
not only from professors, but the
Honors LSA office also gave me a lot
of advice and support," Rose said.
The last University of Michigan stu-
dent to receive the scholarship was Leah
Niederstadt, who secured the honor in

l994. Rose said she was in contact t
Niederstadt throughout the appl icein
process.
"She also gave me advice. She said
the odds are stacked against you.bit
just go for it," Rose said.
Rose said the application process
forced her to take a long look at her
education and ambitions.
"I certainly learned a lot about
myself," Rose said. The process "forces
you to think about your future plans, as
well as what you've gained from your
education."
Rose credits the University for shap-
ing her into the person she is today.'
"Michigan gave me many outlets for
my creative energy," Rose said.
Rose said the upcoming years will b
hard ones for her, but she looks forward
to the challenge. She said, "Hell yes,- I'm
nervous," but that won't hold her back.
"I have no doubt I'll have to work
very hard at Oxford to honor the
Rhodes Trust and the University of
Michigan," Rose said.
