A tugboat essentially has two jobs: moving ships (otherwise known as "traffic") through the harbor, and rescuing ships stranded at sea. Once the ship arrives near the port, a tugboat or many tugboats are used to push or pull the ship to its docking space. The tugboat also moves oil barges to the ships, to provide them with fuel.
