Luhning who poked it high in the top
right corner of the goal.
Michigan's one-goal lead held until
17:33 into the second period when
Bowing Green defenseman Matt
Eldred slapped the puck past Michigan
goaltender Marty Turco. Turco would
not allow another puck past him, secur-
ing the victory while making 19 saves.
Against Ohio State, Michigan's first
period set the tone for the rest of the
contest.
The three early goals were scored by
former linemates Matt Herr, Sean
Ritchlin and Mike Legg. Ritchlin
knocked in the first goal in the renovat-
ed Yost.
"It felt great just to score that first
goal, especially against Ohio State," he
said.
Friday's game was the first game in
the newly renovated Yost. Madden
expressed how good it was to play at
home.
"I couldn't sleep all day and felt like I
was playing in the playoffs again;"
Madden said. "It, was great to get back
and give the fans something to cheer
about"'
Those cheers began prior to the game
during a ceremony to honor Michigan's
national-championship.
"It was a great feeling," Botterill said.
"We put a lot of hard work into it last
Year"'
