"I am proud of the students in our
program, proud of our faculty, and very
confident in our graduates," White
said. "Some of the best and most com-
mitted undergraduates in the nation
become University of Michigan
Business School students."
While popular local T-shirts may
declare Harvard "The Michigan of the
East," the renowned Ivy League school
has relinquished the top spot in the
poll.
"We're not very interested in non-
academic surveys;' said Alex Huppe,
Harvard's director of public affairs.
"This is not of very great interest to us.
The company we're in seems pretty
good.
Huppe said Harvard does not feel
tweaked after being topped by longtime
rival Yale University.
"Yes, we feel rivalry to the other
schools - it's a football rivalry."
Machen said the schools named io
the list are not competing with each
other for public acclaim.
"I'd say they're all fine institutions
with good educational programs. I
don't think this ranking is indicative of
the qualities of education at those insti-
tutions."
At least one incoming student pro-
fessed disinterest to the poll.
Erin Eckland said she decided to
attend the University based on "mostly
what (she) heard from other people.'
"I wanted a big school where there
are a lot of people and a lot of opportu-
nities," Eckland said.
