It must be those fluorescent lights in the classrooms. They lend a marvelous yellow tone to the skin, which sets off the purple bags under one's eyes quite nicely in those 9 a.m. lectures. If that doesn't make you wantto ask someone out on a date ... well, I'm sure something else will. Best pick up line: " i " Paradox: "Hi" is not a line. "Hi" is a word. You readers obviously don't urderstand the subtleties involved in developing pick up lines. But let's try combining "hi" with some of the "runner-up" pick up lines and see what we can come up with. "Hi ... wanna hit the sheets?" "Hi ... did you fall off your barstool?" "Hi ... I'm from Jersey." The last one is not necessarily guaranteed to work, but we are sure that you get the idea. Best rejection line: "Good-bye" OK, simple is good, but it's also BORING. Let's try the above with "Good-bye" and our rejection line runners-up. "Good-bye ... I have to go to the bathroom." "Good-bye. bite this." "Good-bye ... I have gas." The last one is guaranteed to work. You know, with lots of trees and stuff. And grass. If we get really crazy later, maybe we can roll down that hill over there." Best place for a secret rendezvous: The Arb Geeze, there must be a lot of lov- ers running around the Arb on first dates and secret rendezvous! If they started charging admission at the gate, maybe they could even afford to set up a refreshment stand so lovers could take a Diet Coke break in between bouts of frolicking. Best idea for an un- usual date: A trip to Meijer Picture it: Pushing each other around in the grocery cart, soul- searching discussions about the freshness of lettuce heads, feeding each other chocolate covered pea- nuts and yogurt covered pretzels and various other covered food items from the bulk food section. Why didn't we ever think of it be- fore? Best date movie: Tie between "Sleepless in Seattle" and "Up Close and Personal" MegRyan or Michelle Pffeifer? Meg Ryan or Michelle Pffeifer? Meg Ryan or Michelle Pfeiffer? Ahhhhhhhh! Good thing Tom Hanks is just blatantly cuter than that Redford guy. Best Concert in the Past Year: Tracy Chapman Tell that to the people who reviewed her album this year - that didn't do as well. Her Michigan Theater show must have impressed some people. though, because she beat out every- one else in this category. WBVF - - ro 0 T vr lr 0 FL Jj:,.
