DOING IT...

Stephen Nunn What: Flying High. ,
Major: Engineering
Don't call Stephen Nunn a space cadet. True, he is ranked third in
his Cadet Class in the Air Force R.O.T.C., but still, he's got his feet
planted firmly on the ground. Just watch him in a game of IM Flag
________________Football, Soccer, or Basketball (yes, he plays all three) or check him
out as he struts his stuff with the University of Michigan marching band.

SwoosH NOTES
Wondering what to do on Valentine's Day? Looking for that
special gift for that special significant someone? Well, put
down the flowers and chocolates, and head over to the DIAG at noon.
Your NIKE student rep has something very special for you.
What do NBA Rookie Damon. Stoudamire
and Mighty Mouse have in common? Check
out the action in the NBA All-Star All-
Rookie Game on Feb. 10th to find out. Not
p only will you see Damon's hot play-so far
this year he's averaging 18.5 points per game for
Toronto, second among all NBA rookies-you'll
also see Mighty Mouse on his left arm. Stoudamire
says the great mouse. is an inspiration for him to
step up his ability and overcome any obstacles he
encounters.
Hey, Blue! Your letters to your NIKE student rep's
P.O. Box have been tremendous! As a reward, here's another
assignment: tell us about your greatest adventure or athletic
accomplishment in NIKE shoes. The winner gets some cool NIKE
stuff. Send it to the address listed below.

Stephen plays sports the same way he plays music, never standing out, but
always outstanding. And one thing is clear about this sophomore engineer-
ing major's future: the sky's the limit.
Melissa Petrucci What: Spreading Good Cheer.
Major: Industrial Engineering
Let's face it, feeling blue is no fun. Fortunately for sports fans at the
University of Michigan, cheerleader extraordinaire Melissa Petrucci
loves to share the antidote: a good dose of enthusiasm and encour-
- agement. She's been lifting spirits and raising morale ever since she
first back-Rlipped onto campus. And when the U of M cheerleader hops up
and shouts "Let's go Blue! Let's go Blue!" spectators and players alike
can't help but feel great. She's been getting a few cheers herself: her cheer-
leading team placed ninth at the NCAA National Meet, and recently let
their pom-poms fly at the AmeriCheer Competition. She's currently prepar-
ing the team for the upcoming UCA championships. So if you happen to
see her practicing her routine, don't just stand there on the sidelines-put a
smile on your face and shout "Go Melissa!" After all, one good cheer
deserves another.

If You Let Them Play ...the positive
impact that participating in sports has on girls'
lives is a matter of fact, not opinion. To
increase opportunities for girls to play sports,
NIKE and Lady Foot Locker are sponsoring Three
For All, the first ever grassroots basket-
ball skills competition for girls ages I l1
17. Three USA Basketball Women's
National team members-Sheryl
Swoopes, Lisa Leslie and Dawn Staley-are
helping to promote the program, making sure
girls get a chance to work on basketball fundaimen-
tals in a lively, fun environment.
