U.S. HOUSE
Continued from page 1
the late results and uncertainty sur-
rounding the outcome to problems with
reporting the actual vote totals from
certain districts. He said that reporting
problems persisted well after midnight
in towns Schall was favored to win,
such as Westland and his home town,
Livonia.
"If you look community by com-
munity, the numbers indicate that they
are what I need to receive a small
majority," Schall said. "Things are
where we expected them to be all

along."
He also said questions surrounded
the polling in Ypsilanti, where he .
claimed voting continued past.the 8
p.m. deadline. The State Election Com-
mission must certify all votes, and this
process could delay the final tally pend-
ing a possible investigation.
Pritchard described the mood at the
Rivers campaign headquarters as "cau-
tiously optimistic but somber due to
[Democratic] losses around the coun-
try."
Rivers, currently a state representa-
tive in the 53rd district, was unavailable
for comment at press time.
