Men's soccer closes out regular season By JOHN LEROI Daily Sports Writer Nothing gives a team more moti- vation going into the postseason than ending the season on a roll. And after a victory Friday against Ferris State and a strong showing yesterday against Western Michigan, the Michi- gan men's soccer team has some en- thusiasm going into next weekend's national club regional tournament in Columbus. The Wolverines (12-6-4) beat Ferris State 4-0 at Mitchell Field and then were knocked off by Western Michigan 2-0 in Kalamazoo to end the weekend. The match against the Broncos was rescheduled from ear- lier in the season as a promotional game for Western, who is in danger of falling from varsity to club status. On Friday, Michigan dominated the Bulldogs in the first half. Forward Richard Berri, midfielders Ian Kurth and Steve Moore and defenseman Mike Presley all netted goals before the intermission. This years' game 'Right now we are superior to most club teams, but not a strong program like Western Michigan.' - Steve Burns Michigan soccer coach had quite a different outcome than last season's scoreless tie. "We really had something to prove against Ferris," Michigan coach Steve Burns said. "We came out and played some very strong soccer."
