His performance helped the Wolverines to a third-place showing at the Air Force Academy-hosted event, the Wolverines' highest finish since they placed third at the Buckeye Fall Classic two years ago. BACKGROUND: During his time at Ann Arbor Pioneer H.S., Brockway played two years of varsity golf and won all-conference and all-state praise after his senior season. A four-year honor roll student at Pioneer, Brockway also was a member of the student council. Brockway Men's soccer falls to Kalamazoo College defensive attack By ANTOINE PITTS DAILY SPORTS EDITOR KALAMAZOO-In its previous two games, the Michigan men's soc- cer team outscored its opponents 12- 0. Saturday at Kalamazoo College, the tables turned on the Wolverines as they were shutout, 2-0. The Hornets (2-2-1) notched a goal in each half and kept the Wolverines (2-2-1) off the board for the entire 90 minutes. "This was the best game we've played all year and against a good team, too," Kalamazoo coach Hardy Fuchs said. "Michigan for some rea- son never got untracked." Senior fullback Mike Arends scored in the first half and once again in the second half to account for all of the scoring. Meanwhile, the Kalamazoo defense kept the Wolver- ines at bay. "They are always dangerous be- cause they have good dribblers," Fuchs said. "I would take a lot of their players in my program. I tried to re- cruit Kris Wiljanen and Ian Kurth.
